I started blogging a few years ago and really had no idea what I was doing, to be honest. I had moved to LA and was working in fashion and trying to meet friends. Starting a blog was another creative outlet for me, similar to my love for painting. It was a place for me to combine all the things I enjoyed, found inspiring, or just really rad, and I wanted to share that with my family and friends.
I really wasn’t trying to gain a ton of followers or make it a “brand”. I was doing it for fun, and lucky enough, that is STILL why I blog. When it stops being fun, that’s when I know it’s time to move on. However, I have learned a lot along the way and have tested out new strategies and techniques to see what works and what doesn’t.
All of that being said, there are a ton of blogs that I follow religiously and bloggers that I really admire. They’re the ones that have found a way to make their blog a full time job and I think that’s incredible. It’s every bloggers dream, right? I’d be lying if I said I didn’t want Worship Worthy to become more than a hobby for me, but I know that takes A LOT of hard work and commitment.
Aimee Song, the woman behind Song of Style, is definitely in my top 5 inspirational bloggers/celebrities. Her laid-back style has gained her over 4 Million monthly views. That’s insane! She’s been blogging since 2008 and she’s also a talented interior designer. I admire that she’s able to juggle both a “regular” job and her blog, and hasn’t given up on having a career in both.

Sooooooo…. last night Rob and I were at Gracias Madre in West Hollywood having dinner, which is an amazing Mexican restaurant that happens to be 100% vegan and organic. A bunch of friends had been and said it was amazing- so Rob and I were pumped to try it and we could eat everything on the menu! Score! I highly recommend you go and try it if you’re in LA- soooo good!

In addition to the awesome food, I happened to turn around and notice Aimee was 5 feet behind us at another table. We were seated at the bar, which gave us a great view to people watch (everyone in the restaurant was beautiful- guys, girls, everyone).

I elbowed Rob and mentioned to him who she was. He’s a total instigator in these situations and immediately said to me “You have to go and say hi. Just be yourself and tell her how much you like her style and blog. Don’t be nervous!” Full boyfriend encouragement moment (awe).
Well, I was nervous. I’m a total chicken in situations like these, and just shy in general. I didn’t want to sound like an idiot and I felt bad interrupting her conversation with her friends.
(I ordered a tequila snow cone and Rob had a “Matcha Do About Nothing”)
I felt myself starting to grow some guts and I decided to just go for it! I very politely interrupted her conversation and just told her how much she’s inspired me. I told her the name of my blog and hopefully someday she’ll visit my site. She was SO nice! Nothing to be worried about after all. I was really proud of myself afterwards for finding the courage. I would’ve been so disappointed in myself if she had walked out and I said nothing.
This was a true “moment” for me that I’ll be riding the high of for a while. Another reason why Los Angeles is so great… you literally NEVER know who you’ll run into around town.
Have you ever felt like that? Or had an opportunity to meet an idol of yours and feel super scared to say hi? Please share you stories with me! I’d love to hear them. Comment below, friends!
