Like most women, my skin and hair journey has been a loooong and twisted one. To set the tone, I had the worst skin growing up- acne like nobody’s business, and it would rarely “go away.” Some days were better than others, but it was always something I struggled with.
I mean seriously, my skin was bad. And it weighed heavy on me, as it does for most. However, my skin has gotten MUCH better in the past few years, and people that have known me for a long time have asked me what the secret is. So I thought this would be the perfect time to do a little skin care post and let you know what my favorite products are and what I can’t live without.
Here is the line up! These are my main, every day products. There are a few more things I use, but these are my can’t live without’s. Ready?
First, Origins Rose Clay face mask is a new favorite, but I can’t stop using it. I got this as a sponsored gift, along with a few other products but this one is my favorite. It smells like grapefruit, not roses, which surprised me. And it has small little beads in it that exfoliate your skin while it’s doing everything else. Once I wash this off, I can’t stop touching my face. It leaves it SOOO soft! I use this about once a week and it’s been a game changer.
Second, Mario Badescu Rose Water Spray. I feel like most people know about this stuff by now, but in case you don’t- go buy it now! Not only does this smell good (just like a bed of roses), but it’s super refreshing and moisturizing. I use this every day after my shower before I apply anything else, and I also use it after applying my make up- it’s a great setting spray. I have a small travel bottle that I bring with me when I travel so I can use it mid-flight. So good!!
Thayer’s Witch Hazel Toner. I’ve used a lot of toners in the past, but they made my skin SO dry. I hated them. But I read about this, and picked it up at Whole Foods. It’s alcohol free, paraben-free, hypoallergenic, and one I have has aloe in it too. Super cleansing, but not drying like other toners can be.
OK, this is my FAVORITE product. Seriously, it’s amazing. Blue Ridge Silver is a collidal silver spray with no additives or preservatives- just 99.9% silver and distilled water. I swear to god, this stuff has helped my acne issues like nothing else I’ve ever tried. The healing properties of silver are incredible. I spray this on my face after I shower every morning, and also at night before bed.
And this is also safe to ingest. After my gum graft surgery in May, I sprayed this into my mouth twice a day and I’m not kidding, my healing time cut in half. When I went back to my follow up appointment with my surgeon, he was shocked at how good everything looked (I also rebelled and didn’t take the antibiotics that they told me to take).

Now to talk about HAIR.
My hair was always short. I’m talking bob-cut from day one (probably age 4?), plus a few years with bangs that started in the middle of my forehead. I finally started growing it out in my later years of high school, and it took a long time to grow to the length it is now. When it was shorter, I had to style it basically everyday, which was very damaging. Once it got a little longer, I started letting it just air dry and stopped styling it all together. My natural hair is very wavy, so I started to just rock it.
Letting your hair have a break has a HUGE part in getting your hair to grow. If you keep applying heat, your hair just keeps breaking. BUT if you have to style it, use protection on it, like this spray!
This product is definitely a hidden secret of mine. A hairstylist turned me onto this years ago, and it’s seriously a game changer. I feel like it’s basically a leave in conditioner, but it’s technically supposed to be used before you heat style your hair- i.e, blow dry, flat iron, or curl. Spray it onto towel dried hair and style as you’d like. Sometimes I use it when I’m not using heat, and just let my hair air dry. Your hair feels AMAZING after using this stuff, not kidding!
